Our Story

Gareth Roberts Opticians originally opened on Madoc Street in Llandudno in 1980. Gareth was young when he first opened the shop, with his mum working on reception to welcome people in. The shop eventually moved to 107 Mostyn Street, and then again to 111 Mostyn Street a few years later, which is where it is today.

With a kind and likeable personality, Gareth inspired the ethos of the shop, always giving the customer the best advice for their health, and providing the services that would benefit them. In 2018, Gareth retired leaving the practice to Rhodri, who had worked at the practice since 2006 when he was newly qualified. The practice has since been taken over by Geraint Allport, though Gareth still pops in to the shop every now and then to visit the team..

The future of optometry looks bright for Wales, with an increased understanding of the roles optometrists play while working with hospital Ophthalmology departments when providing primary care. There have also been advancements in the technology we use as well as the treatment we deliver. This helps us provide you with better care and a better service.
